Precocious math students are often neglected. Schools don’t have the resources to give bright students the accelerated education they deserve. Gifted math students twiddle their thumbs as they wait for their peers to catch up.
At MIT, I was taught the following:
To do what ought to be done, but would not have been done unless I did it, I thought to be my duty.
I see it as my duty to educate those precocious math students. It is a privilege and honor to work with them, and I learn from them while they learn from me.
